A Little About MandyP

Welcome to my world.

I used to have a standard Bio where I described myself in a few bullets and kept it light and flowery. And then I realized that I cringed every time I read it. (Which, isn't often since I already know all about me. I mean...who reads their own bio more than during the editing phase?)

So...I decided it was time to make the bio really reflect the person it's describing.

So, here goes...I am a wife and a mom of 5 with one on the way. I've been pregnant roughly the past 7 years and my womb is ready to revolt. I don't know how Michelle Duggar did it 19 times. My uterus is being held together with a piece of scotch tape and a prayer. A good sneeze could send me into labor at this point.

Our kids are 7, 6, 4, 3, 18 months and due in July 2012. The two oldest are exactly 12 months and 2 weeks apart. All the rest are 19 months apart.

And in case you're wondering any of the following:

*No, we haven't figured out what causes this, but we think we're zeroing in on it.
*No, we are not Catholic.
*No, we are not Mormon.
*Yes, we have heard there are ways to prevent pregnancy.
*Yes, they were all 'planned.' We don't consider any of our kids to be an "accident."
*We live in a modest, 3-bedroom house and make a modest salary.
*Are we 'done' yet? Well, since you asked, we just recently took steps to ensure a 7th is a medical impossibility. (and I often wonder why that's anyone else's business, but we get asked that question by perfect strangers all. the. time.)

This blog is all about my *stuff.* Whatever that might be on any given day.

One post might be funny the next could be me bellyaching about Facebook statuses that annoy me and the next might be a philosophical rant. Many posts are me pouring out my heart about how completely overwhelmed I feel on some days. And, sometimes I even venture and post about DIY stuff Joe and I are trying. I LOVE DIY and Decor blogs...I just wish I had the skill to truly have one of my own.

You may want to smack me in the head on some days. Welcome to my husband's world. :)

I am a Christian, but please don't label me as "one of those" before you get to know me. I am no better than anyone else. I don't "hate" other people regardless of their lifestyle, beliefs or any other reason. I am saved by Christ and have nothing to boast in except that alone. I also don't wear skirts or dresses every day and preface every Facebook status update with a scripture. Not that there's anything *wrong* with that...it's just not who I am.

I am your run-of-the mill neurotic girl who worries incessantly--at all times--about everything. Especially my kids. I try my darndest to be all things to all people-and find that most times I fail miserably at that. I am most comfortable in my sweats (or as my family calls them, our "cozies.") I used to get my hair and nails done, wear clothes with buttons, and talk about things OTHER THAN diapers, potties, and poop. My husband, Joe, and I used to actually go out on dates and speak to one another in full sentences. Now we're eating a sandwich on the go and trying to decipher what the other is saying between referreeing fights and answering our kids' 1 million questions.

Now we're livin' the life; suburban domestic bliss. I say that both tongue-in-cheek and in seriousness. Joe and I love our kids and do our best every day to love each other, love our babies and hold it all together. Feel free to comment (or not). But most importantly, feel free to laugh. Laugh at us. Laugh at yourself. Join us in this carnival we call our life! Bearded ladies and cotton candy are optional.
