Lotsa 'bout nuttin'

There she is folks. Ain't she a 'beaut?

Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner
THIS is what life has come to for me. No longer do I rave about a new handbag (Prada, I love you and I promise we WILL rekindle things one day...)

Joe and I went and bought a new vacuum the other day. Ours was about 6 years old and the brush finally gave up and stopped spinning. It was time.

**BTW, I received NO incentive whatsoever for this post. None of the businesses/sites/products mentioned asked me to or even know that I mentioned them**

I found the above vacuum on this awesome decorating site called Young House Love which is a cool site that I now stalk frequent. I actually even found a new mommyblogger friend from that site (Hello MommyFriend!!!!!)

Anywho...Target has this vacuum for the same price that Amazon does, but we actually bought it at Best Buy-- even though it's priced $10 higher, but *good news* Best Buy price matched!

We came home and I put that beast together in record time (only requires 1 screw!), and then we all watched in amazement as I turned it on and THE WHOLE BOWL FILLED UP with hair and dirt and random other carpet grossness! I had JUST vacuumed the day before and yet it was full!

That could speak to a few different things...
1) This vacuum is AMAZING
2) Our old vacuum was a piece of crap
3)WE WERE LIVING IN FILTH!

It was so exciting that I couldn't WAIT to use it in every room to see how much dirt it would get out...It actually lightened the color of some of our rugs!

And in other news...

Between the insurance agent, the roofer, and mine and Joe's phone calls (some heated) we are now getting a new facia and gutter put on the side of our house (FREE OF CHARGE!) Woo hoo! Here's what we are dealing with right now...(It's too darn cold outside for me to give you a better shot.)

Now, I'm no expert, but isn't the gutter supposed to be a little closer to the roof than that? And, call me crazy, but I don't think it's supposed to be so...crinkly?

The "first nice day" is when the roofer will come and replace the facia and gutter on our house. In the meantime, there is more snow and the temperature drops in this room by 10 degrees everytime we have flurries...

So how is YOUR day going? Anything exciting/stressful/infuriating to report? Go ahead...vent it here. It's a safe place. =)

  1. I love using a brand new vacuum cleaner!! It's addicting! And the filth it finds, oh the filth!!

  2. OMG, thank you for understanding! It's a mixture of amazement and disgust. Amazement over how well the vacuum works and disgust over how much dirt was LEFT BEHIND and IN YOUR CARPET!

  3. Ha! Love it, girl! I'm drooling every time I go to Costco over the Hoover Floormate. And I've warned my husband, one day I'm just gonna come home with it. We have a ton of tile floor, and according to pretty much everyone I know here in AZ (where it's hot & tile's popular), it makes your life so much easier. Sure, I still love a cute new pair of wedges for spring, but making the floor-cleaning portion of my life easier? Oh, yeah. THAT melts my butter!!!

  4. "Melts my butter" That's awesome! My "dream vac" is actually the Dyson, but I simply cannot justify that much money for a vacuum cleaner.

  7. Mandy, I honestly couldn't tell you what brand of vacuum we own, or even what color it is... Ric does all the "floor" work (vacuuming and mopping), has for years... and yes, I know how lucky I am. I am pretty handy with the dustbuster though. Surely you have one of those little suckers (pun intended). And once I even used a swiffer wet jet, but then it leaked and I gave up. This probably gives the impression that I'm lazy or have a dirty house, neither of which is true. In fact, I can fluff a pillow like nobody's business. I just don't do floors. As they say, vacuuming really does suck ;)

  8. In fact, I DO have a dustbuster. It was the second most exciting purchase we made this year! =) I think the hospital should be required to send one home with every parent-especially those with multiple children!

  11. I received a free Electrolux vacuum (from All You magazine) and I love it!! It has such a strong suction that it 'pulls' the carpet up and makes it look new!! And ours fills with dirt and hair rather quickly, too :)

Visiting from "Friday Follow"...I'm your newest follower! Love for you to come visit me!

  17. We got a new vacuum recently too. Isn't it amazing how much a new vacuum will pick up...well, that and how gross it was after we had just vacuumed with our old ones??
    Thanks for stopping by again!

  18. So we had a dyson that about shortly after moving back here. Then the Kirby guys came in, showed me how much dirt was still in my flooring as well as how many dust mites were living in our beds and I gave in. Though I bargained a lot and got the whole package for almost $800 dollars less than Byron's old Chief. I love it because I can do my hard laminate wood floors, my car, and my carpet and I can also shampoo the carpet. It also has an air compressor attachment so I can clean the key board of my computer, blow up balloons and much more. LOL. Oh and it has an engine making it self propelled when on any flooring. Its pretty cool. Never buying another vacuum again because of the lifetime warranty too. It was a very exciting buy.

  19. REALLY?! I need to find out more about this Kirby. THat seems like so much money, but I guess if you look at it as a lifetime purchase it makes more sense.

I got a new vacuum a few weeks ago and I have been vacuuming ever since. Our old one was apparently not doing anything. I almost threw up when I saw how much the new vacuum picked up. I shudder still thinking about it.

  22. I'm not sure I could ever get so excited about a vacuum cleaner (hate the noise it makes, truly, truly hate) but I do understand the excitement of new gadgets in general. So glad you had fun with it :)
